A tragic plane crash occurred at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona on Monday afternoon, resulting in one fatality. The accident happened around 3 p.m. when a Learjet 35A, registered to Mötley Crüe lead singer Vince Neil’s business, Chromed in Hollywood, veered off the runway after landing, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Details of the Crash
The Learjet, which had flown in from Austin, Texas, collided with a parked Gulfstream 200. There were four people on board the Learjet and one person inside the Gulfstream. The impact was so strong that it pushed the stationary plane several yards before both aircraft came to a stop.
Who Was on Board?
Vince Neil was not on the jet at the time of the crash. However, his girlfriend, Rain Andreani, and her friend were passengers. Both survived and were taken to the hospital, with Andreani suffering five broken ribs. Several dogs accompanying them also survived. Two pilots were also on board the Learjet.
Fatalities and Injuries
One of the pilots did not survive the crash, while the other was injured. Rock musician Bret Michaels expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and well wishes to those injured, including his friend Rain Andreani. The charter company Jet Pros, which owns the Gulfstream, confirmed that no one on their aircraft was injured.
Cause of the Accident
Initial investigations suggest that the left landing gear of the Learjet failed upon landing, leading to the crash. Footage from the scene showed the plane struggling to stop before colliding with the parked aircraft. Images from the runway revealed a jet without landing gear and emergency personnel responding to the scene.
Recent Airplane Incidents
This incident is part of a recent series of air travel accidents in the U.S. On January 29, a mid-air collision between a U.S. Army helicopter and an American Airlines jet in Washington, D.C., claimed 67 lives. Two days later, a jet carrying six people crashed onto a busy street in Philadelphia, killing all six passengers and one person on the ground.
Authorities continue to investigate the Scottsdale Airport crash. Vince Neil’s attorney released a statement saying Neil’s thoughts and prayers are with those affected. The accident serves as a reminder of the risks involved in air travel and the importance of safety measures.
