At least five people were rushed to the hospital after a school bus and an SUV crashed in Orange, California, on Monday afternoon. The accident happened just after 3 p.m. on Santiago Canyon Road, near Red Rock Canyon Road, according to Greg Barta, a spokesperson for the Orange County Fire Authority.
It was a scary scene, as first responders arrived to find two adults in the SUV and a school bus carrying a driver and two children. All five people involved – three adults and two kids – were taken to the hospital. While their injuries were serious, officials say they’re in stable condition, which is a relief.
Barta shared that the two adults were riding in the SUV at the time of the crash. The school bus, thankfully, only had two kids on board along with the driver.
Right now, investigators are trying to figure out exactly what caused the accident. As crews continue their work, the focus remains on making sure everyone involved recovers as quickly as possible.
Santiago Canyon Road is known for its winding paths, so drivers in the area are always urged to be cautious. For now, everyone will be looking for answers as officials dig deeper into what happened.
