A high school teacher from Covina is facing some serious charges after being accused of sexually assaulting two female students. Joshua Daniel McGinn, who is 41 years old and teaches at Charter Oak High School, was arrested on December 18, 2024.

The allegations suggest that these incidents began in 2022.If found guilty of all the charges against him, McGinn could spend up to 13 years and six months in prison. Right now, he is being held without bail at Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles. His first court appearance is set for January 6 at the West Covina Courthouse.

The charges against McGinn are quite serious. They include four felony counts of oral copulation with a person under 18, two felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor who is more than three years younger, one felony count of sexual penetration by force, one felony count of contact with a minor for a sexual offense, one felony count of possessing child or youth pornography, and one misdemeanor count of sexual battery.

As he waits for his court date, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is encouraging anyone else who might have been affected or has more information to come forward.

District Attorney Nathan Hochman emphasized the importance of speaking out, saying that it takes courage to report such incidents and that they are committed to ensuring justice is served.
