A 34-year-old man, Michael Gallegos, has been arrested and charged for a shooting that left three people injured in Joliet, according to police.
Charges Against Gallegos
Gallegos is facing several serious charges, including:
- Aggravated battery with a firearm
- Unlawful use of a weapon by a felon
- Unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon
He was arrested on Sunday morning following the incident.
Details of the Shooting
The shooting happened at 11:32 p.m. on Saturday during a gathering at a home in the 5300 block of Sunmeadow Drive. According to police, Gallegos got into an argument with a 38-year-old man and shot him in the abdomen. The injured man was rushed to the hospital in a private vehicle. His condition was described as life-threatening.
Other Victims
Two other people were also injured by stray bullets:
- A 55-year-old woman was shot in the ankle.
- A 32-year-old woman was grazed by a bullet on her thigh.
Both women were taken to the hospital, treated for their injuries, and later released.
Investigation Ongoing
Police are continuing to investigate the incident. Gallegos remains in custody as authorities work to determine more details about the shooting.
