In a disturbing incident, a 41-year-old man has been charged with arson following a fire that severely damaged two homes in Millvale. Authorities say Stephen Ebner—who has no known address—was responsible for the blaze that erupted in the early hours of March 6 along the 1100 block of Evergreen Avenue.
The Allegheny County Police and the Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s Office launched an investigation, ultimately determining that the fire was “incendiary in nature”—meaning it was deliberately set. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the damage left residents shocked and displaced.
Authorities officially filed charges against Ebner on March 15, and the police department publicly announced the case on social media Monday evening. According to online court records, Ebner now faces multiple charges, including:
- Two counts of aggravated arson
- Five counts of arson (endangering persons)
- Three counts of arson (reckless burning or exploding)
- Three counts of criminal mischief
- One count of risking a catastrophe
- One count of loitering and prowling at night
At this time, court documents do not list a defense attorney for Ebner, nor has a preliminary hearing date been scheduled.
