Shocking Philly Plane Crash: Rainy Rush Hour Turns Deadly

Share news:

A grieving mother has shared the heartbreaking story of how her daughter, Elizabeth Keys, tragically died in a plane crash in Washington D.C. on her birthday. Elizabeth, a lawyer, was returning from a work trip with her colleague Sarah Lee Best when their American Airlines flight collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter over the Potomac River. The two women, both 33 years old, were among those who lost their lives in the crash.

Elizabeth’s mother, Mary Keys, and her father, Martin, spoke about their daughter’s life and the pain of losing her. They said Elizabeth, or “Liz” as she was known, was a warm, loving, and funny woman. She had a sharp sense of humor and brought joy to every gathering. Liz was known for her kind heart and her ability to make everyone around her feel special. Her parents described her as someone who was deeply loved by her friends and family, always offering her best self to others, and her hugs were something everyone cherished.

Elizabeth was not only dedicated to her career but also to living life to the fullest. She was known for being fearless and strong, enjoying outdoor activities like skiing and hiking. Liz loved skiing so much that she often described it as “flying.” She frequently visited her favorite place, Hawaii, where she would relax on the beach and explore the beautiful landscapes. She and her partner, David Seidman, loved hosting friends at their home in Washington D.C., especially around their fire pit. David, who had been in a relationship with Liz for six years, spoke fondly of her. He said that Liz had a remarkable way of lifting people up, always pushing others to be the best versions of themselves.

Elizabeth grew up in Cincinnati, where she excelled in school. She attended Madeira High School, where she was the valedictorian. Her high school principal, Ray Spicher, described her as an outstanding student and leader. He said that Elizabeth was the kind of person the world needs more of, and it was shocking to learn that someone so bright and full of potential had been taken from them.
