Tempe, AZ – A terrifying shooting incident near Interstate 10 in Tempe left two people injured before authorities arrested the suspect. The shocking crime unfolded on Monday, sending panic through a hotel and temporarily blocking part of the freeway.
According to the Tempe Police Department, the chaos began when a 34-year-old man was seen standing on the side of I-10, waving a gun. Without warning, he opened fire on a passing vehicle. Fortunately, the driver was not struck but immediately exited the freeway and alerted authorities.
The suspect then fled the scene, making his way to the parking lot of Tempe Diablo Stadium before entering the Marriott Phoenix Resort Tempe at The Buttes. Once inside the hotel, the armed man confronted two employees, forcing them to the ground before firing multiple shots. Both victims were hit but suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
As the situation escalated, the suspect roamed the resort, creating chaos. He then attempted to carjack a woman, but she managed to escape before he could take her vehicle.
