BESSEMER, Ala. – A heartbreaking incident has shaken the Lipscomb community as two men have been arrested and charged with capital murder following the tragic shooting of an 18-year-old early Wednesday morning, February 26, 2025.
According to authorities, Timothy O’Neal Epps Jr. and Tedarius Lee McCoy now face capital murder, attempted murder, and gun-related charges after a deadly attack that claimed the life of Marquese Janhari Webster of Bessemer and left a 21-year-old woman injured.
The violent encounter took place in the 1800 block of Crescent Avenue at approximately 12:45 a.m. Responding deputies learned that the injured woman, who was Webster’s girlfriend, managed to drive herself and Webster to UAB Medical West for emergency treatment. Tragically, Webster was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators revealed that Webster was in the passenger seat when the couple came under fire. The shocking attack has left residents in disbelief, as law enforcement works to determine the motive behind the deadly shooting.
Epps and McCoy are currently in custody, facing serious charges that could lead to severe legal consequences. Authorities continue to urge anyone with additional information to come forward.
