In a shocking turn of events, Dallas rapper Yella Beezy, whose real name is Markies Conway, has been indicted and arrested for capital murder in connection to the 2020 killing of fellow rapper Mo3. Prosecutors allege Conway orchestrated the murder by hiring a hitman.
A Dallas County grand jury returned the indictment this week, stating Conway was involved “while remuneration was involved,” suggesting he paid for the assassination. Mo3, born Melvin Noble, was gunned down in broad daylight on November 11, 2020, on Interstate 35E. Reports say Noble attempted to flee from his vehicle but was chased on foot and shot multiple times. The horrifying attack was captured on traffic cameras and widely shared online.
Two other men, Kewon Dontrell White and Devin Maurice Brown, were previously charged in connection with the case. White was first indicted for murder in February 2021, while Brown was accused of helping coordinate the ambush. Investigators linked them to the crime scene using phone records and surveillance footage.
Federal charges were also brought against both men. White was caught with a 9mm pistol while fleeing police, and Brown was arrested on federal drug and weapons charges after authorities found a stolen AK-47, drugs, and cash in his home. If convicted, both face lengthy prison sentences.
This shocking development has sent waves through the Dallas music industry, as Yella Beezy, known for his 2017 hit “That’s On Me,” had risen to national fame. Fans are left reeling as the case unfolds, with many questioning how the once-promising rapper became entangled in such a high-profile crime.
As of Thursday evening, Conway remains in Dallas County Jail with no bond set. The investigation is ongoing.
