NEW YORK, N.Y. — A lawsuit accusing Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexual assault has been withdrawn with prejudice, following a bombshell revelation that the woman behind the claim admitted on tape that Jay-Z did not assault her.
The lawsuit, which alleged that the assaults took place after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, has been dismissed permanently, meaning it cannot be refiled.
The Secret Recording That Changed Everything
A newly surfaced recording, obtained by ABC News, captures the accuser—identified as Jane Doe—admitting to private investigators that Jay-Z had no involvement in the alleged assault.
“He was just there, but he didn’t have anything to do with any sexual acts towards you?” one investigator asked.
“Yeah,” Jane Doe responded.
She also claimed that her attorney, Tony Buzbee, was the one who urged her to sue Jay-Z.
“He was the one that kind of pushed me towards going forward with him, with Jay-Z,” she said in the recording.
Legal Battles and Denials
Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, stated that the recording “speaks for itself” and proves his client’s innocence.
“The only reason Mr. Carter is even involved in this is because she was pushed to involve him,” Spiro told ABC News.
However, Jane Doe insists she still stands by her original claims. In a sworn declaration, she said she dropped the case out of “fear of intimidation and retaliation from Jay-Z” and his fans. She also denied that Buzbee had coerced her into filing the lawsuit.
Buzbee fired back, calling the claim that he pushed Jane Doe into suing a “blatant lie.”
Jay-Z Fights Back with Defamation Lawsuit
Now, Jay-Z is taking legal action of his own. He has filed a defamation lawsuit against Jane Doe and Buzbee, arguing that the false accusations have damaged his reputation and affected his family.
“It’s tough to hear a false lie spread through the internet and affecting your children,” Spiro said. “But what [Jay-Z] does is prove himself innocent. Today is hopefully the final chapter in that.”
As the legal battle continues, this shocking turn of events raises serious questions about the credibility of high-profile allegations and the impact of false claims.
