A tragic crash in Chisago County has left a 4-year-old boy fighting for his life and six others injured. Authorities have charged Ashlee Rose Klapperick, 36, with six counts of criminal vehicular operation after allegedly driving under the influence of meth and marijuana.
The crash happened Friday evening on Rush Lake Trail in Nessel Township. Klapperick, driving a 2012 Chevy Cruze, veered into oncoming traffic with her 4-year-old and 3-year-old children in the backseat. The other driver, a woman in a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan with three children, tried to avoid the collision but was struck head-on.
The 4-year-old suffered a severe brain injury and remains on life support, while the 3-year-old sustained a broken collarbone. The minivan driver and her three children were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Klapperick later admitted to using meth and weed, saying she was doing “squeezy blinks” before the crash. Authorities found meth and drug paraphernalia in her car.
She remains at Regions Hospital but will soon be discharged and taken into custody. This devastating case highlights the dangers of drug-impaired driving and child endangerment.
