A man has been arrested in connection with the tragic death of a woman in North Philadelphia earlier this year, according to Philadelphia police.
The suspect, 21-year-old Tysean Forsythe, is now facing serious charges, including murder, conspiracy, carjacking, and robbery. His arrest follows an investigation into the killing of 47-year-old Heather Rainey back in June.
The incident happened on June 22 on the 700 block of West Poplar Street. Police were called to the area after someone reported a person with a gun.
When officers arrived, they found Rainey, who had been shot in the chest. She was rushed to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital but sadly didn’t survive.
At the scene, police discovered Rainey’s 2017 Dodge Durango still running. The SUV had a smashed window, and her belongings were scattered inside, suggesting a struggle or robbery. Forsythe was soon identified as a suspect, and police issued a warrant for his arrest.
Fast forward to this week, investigators working on a stolen car case spotted Forsythe in Kensington, specifically on the 2000 block of East Wishart Street. After identifying him, officers apprehended him just a short distance away on the 1900 block of East Allegheny Avenue, which is only about a two-minute walk from where they first saw him.
Forsythe is now in custody, and authorities are moving forward with the case. This arrest marks a significant step toward justice for Heather Rainey and her loved ones.
