Chicago police have detained a person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Alexander Nesteruk in Lincoln Park last week. The incident occurred on November 27 near Clark Street and Fullerton Avenue.
Incident Overview
Nesteruk, a resident of Wheaton, was shot around 3:58 p.m. on the 2400 block of North Clark Street. He succumbed to his injuries on December 2.
Investigation and Arrest
Following the release of surveillance images, detectives received multiple leads. One tipster recognized the individual from a local gym approximately half a mile from the crime scene. The suspect was known to wear all black clothing and kept to himself. As of Thursday morning, no charges have been announced. Authorities are working to confirm the suspect’s involvement before proceeding with formal charges.
**CommAlderman Timmy Knudsen (43rd Ward) noted that Nesteruk exhibited erratic and dangerous behavior at the time of the incident and engaged aggressively with the offender. He also suggested that the victim and offender may have had a preexisting relationship.
The Lincoln Park on alert as the investigation continues. Residents are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
