A dramatic scene unfolded in Wall Township, New Jersey, when police chased down a Target employee accused of taking an inappropriate photo of a customer. The man, David I. Sutton, was arrested on August 27 for invasion of privacy, obstruction of justice, and harassment. A month later, things got even worse for him as authorities brought forward a child pornography case, claiming he was in possession of a significant amount of illegal material.
It all started at the Target store in Wall Township when another employee noticed something suspicious. According to body camera footage, the witness told officers they had seen Sutton touch a customer’s leg and appear to take an upskirt photo. Surveillance footage reportedly confirmed their suspicions, though parts of the footage from inside the store are blurred in the police recording.
The witness also mentioned that Sutton had been hiding in a bathroom stall for over 15 minutes. Officers outside the store discussed the strange situation. One of them asked, “How does this guy ever think he’s going to get away with something like that?” Another responded, “People are weird.”
But Sutton didn’t stay hidden for long. He left the store, and when officers noticed him, things escalated quickly. “He’s running,” an officer said, immediately chasing after him. As the pursuit unfolded, the officer called out, “Yo! Stop!” Sutton eventually stopped and surrendered. The officer told him, “If you want to make this worse, I’ll make it worse. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back.”
Sutton’s case is still ongoing, but the charges against him, including both the initial accusations and the later child pornography case, are serious. Authorities continue to investigate, leaving many in the community shocked and disturbed by the events.
