A shocking discovery was made when a 71-year-old woman, who was seeking shelter from Hurricane Milton at her son’s home in Florida last October, reportedly found the body of his girlfriend wrapped in a tarp. Blood and methamphetamine were also found inside the house.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 43-year-old Kristin Carrier. She had suffered multiple gunshot and stab wounds. A neighbor later reported hearing a woman scream from the home around the time of the incident.
Carrier’s boyfriend, 32-year-old Robert Hendrix, is now facing charges of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence, according to police reports.
Mother’s Horrific Discovery
According to an arrest affidavit, Hendrix’s mother arrived at his home on October 9 to stay there during the storm. The next day, after the hurricane had passed, Hendrix left to go to a store. While he was gone, his mother discovered Carrier’s body wrapped in a large brown tarp in one of the bedrooms.
Shocked and frightened, she immediately contacted her daughter, who came to pick her up. When Hendrix returned home, his mother and sister confronted him about what they had found. He reportedly became agitated and defensive. They quickly left the house and called the police.
Police Investigation and Evidence
Officers arrived at the scene shortly before 6 p.m. on October 10. They found blood on the floors and walls and located Carrier’s body near the bedroom entrance. Investigators collected several pieces of evidence, including a knife, baseball bat, and gun, which were sent for analysis. The test results have not been released.
Detectives also interviewed a witness who claimed to have heard Carrier yelling from a bedroom around 3 p.m. on October 9. Mobile phone records confirmed that Carrier was the only person in Hendrix’s home at the time of the murder.
Additional Charges and Court Hearing
Hendrix, who is a convicted felon, was also arrested for illegal gun possession. Methamphetamine was allegedly found in his home as well. He has been held in Duval County Jail since his arrest.
Authorities continue to investigate the case, and Hendrix remains in custody without bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 12.
