Police in Pennsylvania believe they have stopped a possible future serial killer after arresting a 19-year-old man accused of sending disturbing messages to his neighbor.
Dylan Bish, from Koppel Borough, was taken into custody on March 13. He is accused of sending threatening notes to a female neighbor, describing violent and disturbing fantasies. According to police, these messages started in November 2024.
The first note was left on the woman’s apartment door and included a phone number. Police tried texting the number but were initially unable to find out who was behind it. Then, in February, the woman received another handwritten note, which contained terrifying threats. The message talked about using a chainsaw to dismember her and even included disturbing sexual references involving her body. Bish also wrote that he wanted to “eat her brain.”
Investigators took the notes to the State Police crime lab for analysis. Then, on March 10, police received a text message from the same number that had been listed on the first note. The sender, believing they were messaging the victim, claimed to have already killed 20 women and said she would be his next target. The messages contained violent descriptions of how he wanted to harm her.
Additionally, police were sent a disturbing video showing someone being skinned and tied up. Authorities quickly contacted Beaver County detectives and worked to track down the suspect. Using the phone number, email, and IP address, they identified Bish as the likely sender.
When officers questioned him, Bish admitted to writing the notes and sending the messages. He even confessed that his obsession with the victim would not stop until she was dead. According to police, Bish described in detail how he planned to kill and dismember the woman in the woods this summer. He also admitted to having a fascination with cannibalism.
Shockingly, Bish told police that he was studying criminal justice and forensic science at Salem University in West Virginia. He said he was learning about law enforcement to avoid being caught in the future.
Despite his horrifying confessions, Bish later claimed that he would never actually harm anyone. He said he made the threats because he was lonely and wanted a friendship or relationship.
Bish was arrested and taken to Beaver County Jail, where he is being held on a $1 million bond. If he manages to pay bail, he will have to undergo an extensive mental health evaluation before being released. His preliminary hearing is set for March 28.
