OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) – A man from Texas was arrested in Oshkosh after a deep undercover investigation into human trafficking. The arrest came on Friday, when police discovered a woman, a victim of human trafficking, staying at a local hotel with a man.
An undercover officer was able to make contact with the woman after the man left the room. When officers approached him, he resisted arrest but was taken into custody. Inside his hotel room, police found a stolen firearm, a large amount of drugs, another firearm, and even more drugs. The suspect, whose criminal record includes ties to Texas and Colorado, also had an extensive history of criminal activity.
The investigation revealed that the woman had been forced to travel with the man for months, moving through different states while living in fear. Police are now working with local advocacy groups to help her and reconnect her with her family.
The 32-year-old suspect from Texas, whose name has not been released, faces serious charges, including Human Trafficking, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and multiple counts of Possession with Intent to Deliver controlled substances like Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, and Cocaine.
