A Texas woman has been indicted after allegedly shooting her then-boyfriend in a shocking attack that left him hospitalized for weeks. Now, the man at the center of it all, Elvis Muñoz, is speaking out about the ordeal and his fears for the future.

Alexys Pinto, 23, was arrested in September and charged with aggravated assault of a family member for the shooting. Court records show she was released recently after her bond was reduced from $75,000 to $10,000. Muñoz, still recovering from the incident, says he’s scared she might return and harm him again.

Muñoz, a mechanic, told police the events unfolded on September 5. That day, a client brought a vehicle to his house for repairs while Pinto was there. Things quickly took a turn when Pinto became furious, picking a fight with Muñoz. He tried to calm her down, but it didn’t work. According to Muñoz, she even kicked their dog during the argument.

At some point, Pinto asked him to take her to a spot where they had once watched the sunset together. Confused but trying to diffuse the situation, Muñoz agreed and drove them there. Once they arrived, Pinto suddenly jumped out of the truck and ran off.

Muñoz followed her, trying to understand what was going on. But when he caught up, she started yelling at him. That’s when everything took a terrifying turn.

“I heard a gunshot,” Muñoz recalled. “I looked down and saw blood everywhere.” He had been shot in the hand and chest. Stunned, he saw Pinto holding a gun.

Muñoz said Pinto fired more shots, one of which hit him in the hand again. He remembers her saying strange and chilling things, like, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do you like that. I didn’t shoot you in the right places!”

As Muñoz lay injured, Pinto allegedly held the gun to his head. He thought it was over, but the shot missed. Begging for his life, he tried to convince her to help him, even pretending he still loved her and wanted to stay together.

Desperate, Muñoz persuaded Pinto to take him back to his truck. They drove to a gas station, where security footage later showed her running inside to talk to the clerk while Muñoz sat in the truck, clutching his wounds.

An ambulance finally took Muñoz to the hospital, where he endured multiple surgeries and spent over a month recovering. His family started a fundraiser to help cover his medical bills.

Looking back, Muñoz says he doesn’t understand why Pinto turned on him, but he remembers their relationship as controlling and toxic. “I did everything I could for her,” he said. “Sometimes I wouldn’t even eat, just to make sure she had enough.”

Police arrested Pinto on September 17. A judge issued a protective order to keep her away from Muñoz, but the emotional scars and fear remain. “I’m just scared she might come back and do something,” he admitted.

The case is still unfolding, leaving many wondering what could drive someone to such violence against a person they once cared for.
