A Florida woman, Terry Taylor, 58, has been charged with second-degree murder after her husband, Stanley Taylor, 67, died from injuries reportedly caused by a cane that had a hidden, illegal blade attached to it.
The incident happened in Boca Raton, and the details have left many shocked. Police responded to a call about a medical emergency at the Taylors’ home around 10:30 a.m. on January 13. When officers arrived, they found Stanley with a stab wound to his torso. Terry had reportedly told her neighbors to call the police, claiming that her husband had “fallen on a knife.”
At first, Terry told a story to explain what had happened. She told her neighbor that Stanley had been “cutting something in the kitchen and fell” on the knife. She also suggested he might have been having a “diabetic episode.” But things took a different turn when Stanley, while receiving medical treatment, reportedly told authorities that it was his wife who had attacked him. “The bitch stabbed me,” he allegedly said, adding that she had tried to kill him.
According to police, the fight between the couple started over a stereo system that had belonged to Terry’s father. Stanley had sold it to his brother, which apparently led to an argument. Terry admitted to the police that they got into a physical fight and that Stanley ended up stabbed, but she claimed he had somehow “blacked out” and stabbed himself.
During the fight, Terry told officers, they had struggled over a wooden cane. Then, she allegedly reached for another cane, which turned out to be the one with the hidden blade. She described it as an illegal brass cane with a sharp point. Police said she even demonstrated how she used it, making a swinging motion with her left hand.
The brass cane wasn’t an ordinary one—it had a secret blade inside that could be unscrewed and detached. The blade, about 18 inches long, had visible marks on it, suggesting it had been wiped clean. Police also found rags in the kitchen garbage and on the couch, indicating an attempt to clean the scene. Tests confirmed the presence of blood on the blade, which matched the size of Stanley’s stab wounds.
Medical reports later showed that Stanley was not experiencing any diabetic issues, contradicting Terry’s earlier claim. He died from his injuries at the hospital. According to the police affidavit, the stab wounds were very deep and located close to his back.
Terry Taylor is now being held without bond in the Palm Beach County Jail, charged with second-degree murder. Police believe she not only attacked her husband but also tried to cover up the evidence. The case has left the Boca Raton community stunned, with many questioning how a domestic argument could escalate to such a tragic end.
