In Louisville, Kentucky, a tragic shooting unfolded on Cypress Street this past Sunday, ending with one woman dead and the suspect arrested after a dramatic series of events.
It all began around 1 p.m. on January 5 when police were called to the 1300 block of Cypress Street. Officers found a woman who had been shot multiple times. She was rushed to UofL Hospital, but sadly, she didn’t survive.
Police quickly identified the suspect as Joshua Miller and started searching the area for him. Just two hours later, around 3 p.m., Miller reportedly came back to the same area on Cypress Street. When officers approached him, he opened fire on them. The officers shot back, leading to a tense chase on foot.
Eventually, Miller was shot “at least once,” according to Louisville Metro Police Chief Paul Humphrey. He was taken to UofL Hospital, where doctors treated his injuries. Thankfully, he is expected to survive. Once he’s released from the hospital, Miller will face charges for his actions.
Chief Humphrey also mentioned that body camera footage of the incident exists, and it will be shared with the public within the next 10 business days.
This shooting marked the second officer-involved incident for Louisville police in just 24 hours. A day earlier, officers were involved in a fatal shooting of a man suspected of shooting a deputy in Orange County, Indiana.
These back-to-back events have left many in the community shaken, and authorities are working to provide transparency and answers in the days ahead.
