In a shocking incident in Harris County, Texas, authorities have arrested 57-year-old Anthony Ray Boyce after a brutal attack on an elderly man, Earl Hollins, 80, over something as small as a parking spot. This happened on Friday afternoon outside the Food Town grocery store, located on the 1400 block of West FM 1960 in north Harris County.
According to court records, the dispute quickly turned violent, with Boyce allegedly striking Hollins during an argument about a parking space. The situation escalated to the point where Boyce has now been charged with Aggravated Assault causing Serious Bodily Injury.
At first, when deputies received the call just after 2 p.m., it was reported as an aggravated robbery. But as investigators dug deeper, they realized that nothing had been stolen from Hollins. Instead, witnesses revealed that Boyce and Hollins knew each other and were both regulars at the Food Town store.
Surveillance footage from the scene didn’t show any warning signs of a fight. Sgt. Jeff Thomas shared that the confrontation seemed to come out of nowhere. After the assault, Boyce quickly left the area in a maroon Ford F150 pickup truck with tan or white running boards.
Hollins was critically injured in the attack and had to be airlifted from Houston Northwest Medical Center to Kingwood Hospital, where he is still fighting for his life.
Authorities are continuing to investigate what exactly sparked the violent encounter. For now, Boyce is behind bars, and the community is left stunned by the senseless nature of the attack.
