INDIANAPOLIS — A tragic murder-suicide unfolded on the north side of Indianapolis, leaving a man and a woman dead. It happened around noon on December 2, 2024, at a home on the 400 block of West 38th Street, just west of Meridian Street.
The incident began when Washington Township Deputy Constables arrived at the home to carry out an eviction. As they waited outside, they suddenly heard two gunshots. Rushing inside, they found a heartbreaking scene — a man and a woman with gunshot wounds in a bedroom. Medics arrived quickly but sadly confirmed both were already gone.
Mariah Hernandez, who lives nearby, shared her shock and sadness. “It’s just heartbreaking. You never know when someone’s last moment will be. Right after the holidays, it’s just devastating.”
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) believes the case is a murder-suicide. A gun was found at the scene and taken as evidence. Detectives are piecing together what led to this tragic event.
Mariah described the man who lived in the home as quiet and private. “He’s been there for about four years. I never saw his wife, and there was never any trouble. He just kept to himself.”
