A mother in Georgia has been charged with second-degree murder after her baby boy tragically died from burns caused by a hair dryer. Morgan Creel, 31, is accused of causing the death of her infant son, Carsynn Creel, in a heartbreaking incident at their home in Newnan, Coweta County, on November 9, 2023.

According to police reports, Creel told officers that she had fallen asleep while drying her baby’s clothes with a hair dryer. When she woke up, she found her son unresponsive. When first responders arrived, they found the baby in a onesie, partly pulled down. As they tried to perform CPR, they noticed that the baby was severely burned and discolored on the right side of his body. Tragically, the baby was declared dead at the scene.

Creel claimed that she had fallen asleep while using the hot hair dryer to warm her son. However, after further investigation, a grand jury indicted her on charges of second-degree murder and cruelty to children. Authorities believe she was under the influence of a controlled substance when the incident occurred. According to the legal documents, Creel left the blow dryer on and directed hot air near her baby while she was passed out, which caused cruel and excessive physical pain to the child.

The weather on the day of the incident was 68°F, so it was not cold enough to require the use of a hair dryer to warm the baby. This has raised questions about the tragic circumstances surrounding the death.

In addition to the murder charges, Creel was arrested in October 2024 after a traffic stop. She had been driving erratically and failed a sobriety test, leading to her arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.

This case is part of a larger pattern of tragic events involving mothers and their children in Georgia. Earlier in January 2024, another Georgia mother, Gloria Wright, was arrested in New York after her one-year-old son was found dead from blunt force trauma to the head. Wright was accused of killing her child and then fleeing the state.

Morgan Creel now faces serious charges, and her case has shocked the local community. The investigation continues as authorities seek justice for the tragic loss of young Carsynn.
