An 83-year-old man, Victor Gallardo Lebron, lost his life in a car accident on Monday evening in Mount Prospect.
The crash happened around 6:35 p.m. when Gallardo Lebron was driving a Chrysler SUV east on Thayer Street. As he tried to turn left onto Wolf Road, a 21-year-old man driving a Mercedes-Benz crashed into the driver’s side of his vehicle. The younger driver was heading south on Wolf Road when the collision occurred.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene. Firefighters had to remove Gallardo Lebron from his SUV before rushing him to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Sadly, he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The 21-year-old driver was not hurt in the crash, according to police.
Authorities are still investigating the accident to determine exactly what happened.
