PELHAM PARKWAY, Bronx (Brittany Cadet) – A double shooting in Pelham Parkway has left one man dead and another recovering, following a violent incident on Sunday evening.
According to the NYPD, shots rang out just before 8 p.m. on Sunday at 2179 White Plains Road. Police arrived at the scene to find a 32-year-old man who had been shot in the back while walking on the sidewalk. Authorities say the man heard gunfire before feeling pain and realizing he had been struck. He was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals Jacobi, where he remains in stable condition.
Shortly after, hospital staff notified the police that another victim had arrived at the hospital. The second victim, identified as 33-year-old Kemani Smalls, was shot at the same location but managed to make his way to the hospital on his own. Unfortunately, Smalls succumbed to his injuries and was later pronounced dead.
