New details have emerged in a tragic murder case in Forrest County, Mississippi. Authorities have identified the victim as 38-year-old Rafaela Galvez from Hattiesburg, and the suspect is her 21-year-old son, Javier Galvez.
The heartbreaking incident happened on Monday morning at the Glendale Garden Mobile Home Park. Around 9 a.m., deputies from the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a domestic disturbance at the home.
When deputies arrived, they found Javier sitting outside the mobile home. According to the incident report, when they asked him whose blood was on him, Javier reportedly said it was his mother’s. Inside the house, deputies discovered Rafaela lying on the kitchen floor, unresponsive, with visible head injuries.
Rafaela was rushed to a nearby hospital but sadly passed away. The incident report also mentioned that potential weapons involved included a blunt object and a cutting instrument.
As the investigation unfolded, authorities arrested Javier and charged him with first-degree murder. He is now in custody at the Forrest County Jail and is waiting for his first court appearance, which is expected to take place later this week.
