Three American women were found dead over the weekend at a beach resort in Belize, police said on Monday. Authorities are investigating their deaths as possible drug overdoses.
The women were identified as Kaoutar Naqqad (23), Imane Mallah (24), and Wafae El-Arar (26). They were staying at the Royal Kahal Beach Resort when the incident occurred.
How They Were Found
According to police reports, surveillance footage showed the women entering their rooms on Thursday night. However, they were never seen coming back out. On Friday, hotel staff tried to contact them multiple times but received no response.
By Saturday morning, after still getting no reply, the staff used a master key to enter the room. Inside, they found all three women unresponsive.
Possible Drug Overdose
Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of death. However, first responders noticed froth on their mouths, which could indicate a drug overdose.
There were no signs of forced entry or visible injuries, suggesting no foul play. Officers also found snacks, liquids, vapes, and other electronic devices in the room. The investigation is still ongoing.
Who Were They?
The women were of Moroccan descent but held U.S. citizenship. They lived in Revere, Massachusetts.
Kaoutar Naqqad’s family described her as a beloved daughter, sister, and friend. They started a GoFundMe to help cover funeral expenses, writing:
“Her loss has deeply impacted all who knew her.”
The family of Wafae El-Arar also launched a GoFundMe, stating:
“She was a bright, kind, and loving soul who touched the hearts of everyone she met.”
