In Minneapolis, a tragic shooting early Saturday morning has left a community shaken. Police say they were called to the 2400 block of 17th Avenue South around 4:45 a.m. after a 911 caller reported hearing gunshots and seeing a man lying in the street.
When officers arrived, they found a man in his late 20s critically injured. Acting quickly, they gave him first aid while waiting for paramedics to arrive. Despite their efforts and his transport to a nearby hospital, the man’s injuries were too severe, and he sadly passed away.
“This is heartbreaking,” said Police Chief Brian O’Hara. “It happened in a neighborhood close to a park and a church—places that are meant to bring people together, not be the site of violence. We’re going to do everything we can to figure out what led to this and bring answers to the community.”
Investigators are now piecing together the events that unfolded before the shooting. They’re asking anyone with information, no matter how small it might seem, to come forward.
The victim’s name hasn’t been released yet; that will come from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office. For now, the focus remains on finding out what happened and ensuring justice for the young man who lost his life.
