KANSAS CITY—More than a year after three Chiefs fans were found dead in the backyard of a Kansas City home, two men have been charged in connection with their deaths.
On January 9, 2024, Ricky Johnson, David Harrington, and Clayton McGeeney were discovered lifeless outside the home of Jordan Willis, two days after watching a Kansas City Chiefs game. Now, after a 14-month-long investigation, authorities have charged Willis and another suspect, Ivory Carson, with multiple felonies, including three counts of involuntary manslaughter and distribution of a controlled substance.
During a press conference, Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd revealed that investigators found two bags of drugs at the home—one containing cocaine and the other fentanyl. A forensic examination determined that all three victims died from a lethal combination of the two substances. DNA evidence linked Willis and Carson to the bags, leading to their arrests.
According to witness testimony, the victims were seen using cocaine at Willis’ home before their tragic deaths. Text messages also allegedly show Carson supplied drugs to one of the victims. Despite the mounting evidence, Willis’ lawyer insists his client did not provide the drugs that killed his friends and looks forward to presenting the case before a jury.
The case has left families heartbroken, searching for answers. While early reports suggested no foul play, loved ones have long suspected something more sinister. As the legal battle unfolds, this tragedy serves as a grim reminder of the deadly consequences of fentanyl-laced substances.
Willis and Carson are being held on a $100,000 cash bond. If convicted, they could each face up to 10 years in prison.
