In the 2024 election, some well-known conservatives, like former Vice President Dick Cheney and ex-Sen. Jeff Flake, publicly slammed Donald Trump and even supported Democratic nominee Kamala Harris. But as the GOP became more aligned with Trump, these “Never Trumpers” lost influence, with many being pushed out by the Republican Party and right-wing media.
However, even within the pro-Trump camp, tensions are rising. Two new articles from the Daily Beast reveal infighting among key players in the MAGA movement, showing cracks in the unity that once defined Trump’s base.
Nico Hines reports that MAGA stalwarts like Laura Loomer and Rep. Matt Gaetz are now lashing out at the “tech bros” who helped fund Trump’s comeback, including Tesla’s Elon Musk. Loomer has taken her frustration directly to Musk on his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter). Gaetz has also criticized Musk’s influence on the movement, questioning his role in shaping GOP policies, particularly immigration.
Meanwhile, Janna Brancolini warns that the infighting among House Republicans could potentially delay Trump’s inauguration. If the GOP can’t agree on a speaker by January 3, the House might be paralyzed, unable to certify the election results on January 6. Without a Speaker, the entire certification process could be thrown into chaos, leaving Trump’s second term hanging in the balance.
So, it seems the MAGA movement is far from united—and this internal struggle could have big consequences for the GOP’s future. Stay tuned!
