Exciting news for Lancaster County! Two Democrats are stepping up to the plate, aiming for their party’s endorsement in the upcoming special election for the 36th Senate District this spring.

Meet Matthew Good, a passionate public school librarian from Ephrata, and James Andrew Malone, the dedicated mayor of East Petersburg. Both are eager to earn the Lancaster County Democratic Committee’s nod before the March 25 election.

The committee will decide who gets the endorsement on January 18, giving the winner a major advantage heading into the race. They’ll be facing off against two Republicans — State Representative Brett Miller and Lancaster County Commissioner Josh Parsons — both of whom are also vying for the seat left vacant after Ryan Aument’s resignation. Aument stepped down to take a position in Senator Dave McCormick’s office.

The 36th Senate District spans a large part of Lancaster County, including areas like Akron, Lititz, Ephrata, and Mount Joy, along with numerous townships.
