Two Killed in Late-Night Shooting at Compton Strip Mall

Share news:

A double shooting late Monday night at a strip mall in Compton left a man and woman dead, authorities confirmed.

Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of gunfire around 11:05 p.m. in the 900 block of South Central Avenue, near Alondra Boulevard.

Upon arrival, deputies found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Unanswered Questions

Authorities have not yet determined whether the victims were outside in the parking lot or inside one of the strip mall’s establishments at the time of the shooting. The only business open at the time was a liquor store, where detectives were seen interviewing potential witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage.

It remains unclear if the victims knew each other or if the shooting was random.

No information about potential suspects has been released, and the investigation is ongoing.

Scene Secured for Investigation

As of 7 a.m. Tuesday, the parking lot of the strip mall remained cordoned off as investigators searched for evidence.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has not provided further details and is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact law enforcement.

This latest shooting adds to ongoing concerns about violence in the area, with community members calling for heightened safety measures and increased police presence.
