When the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns face off, it’s always a tough battle—and Thursday night was no different. With snowflakes falling in Cleveland, the Browns braved the freezing temperatures to pull off a thrilling 24-19 win, snapping the Steelers’ five-game winning streak.
This was classic AFC North football—hard hits, strong defenses, and plenty of drama.
Big Winners
Myles Garrett
Myles Garrett was unstoppable in the first half. The Browns’ star defensive end dominated with three sacks, a forced fumble, and constant pressure on the Steelers’ offense.
He set the tone early, sacking Pittsburgh’s quarterback on their first drive, which led to a missed field goal. In the second quarter, he added a strip sack and finished the half with yet another sack. Even after facing double teams in the second half and a brief injury scare, Garrett returned to finish the game with five tackles and those crucial three sacks.
Jameis Winston
Browns quarterback Jameis Winston had his ups and downs, but he came through when it mattered most.
In the fourth quarter, Winston scored a gutsy touchdown, diving into the end zone to give Cleveland an 18-6 lead. He even lost the battery to his helmet during the play! Later, he made a clutch 15-yard throw to Jerry Jeudy, setting up the game-winning score.
Winston ended the night with 219 passing yards, one interception, and a lost fumble. It wasn’t perfect, but he fought hard.
Nick Chubb
This game was personal for Nick Chubb, who was facing the Steelers for the first time since a brutal knee injury last season.
Chubb didn’t have huge yardage—59 yards on 20 carries—but he made those runs count. He punched in two touchdowns, including the game-winner in the final minute.
Jerry Jeudy
Jerry Jeudy has become the Browns’ go-to receiver. His biggest play? A 15-yard catch on third down late in the game that set up Chubb’s deciding touchdown. Jeudy was a reliable target all night, finishing with six catches for 85 yards.
The Grounds Crew
Shoutout to the Browns’ grounds crew for keeping the snowy field in playable shape. Without them, this game could’ve been a real mess!
Tough Night for These Guys
The Punters
It wasn’t a good night to be a punter. Cleveland’s Corey Bojorquez had a shaky start with a 12-yard punt, while Pittsburgh’s Corliss Waitman had a costly 15-yard misfire in the fourth quarter that gave the Browns momentum.
Third-Down Struggles
Cleveland’s offense had trouble converting on third downs, going just 1-for-10. Winston also threw a bad interception late in the game on third down.
Russell Wilson
Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson played well, finishing with a passer rating of 116.7, but it wasn’t enough. This was his first loss as Pittsburgh’s starter, dropping his record to 4-1. Despite the loss, he’s still proving he can get the job done under center.
