Authorities in Arkansas have issued an Amber Alert for a missing 16-year-old pregnant girl, Sophia Franklin, who police believe was kidnapped. Sophia was last seen at her home in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, on February 2, 2025, around 9 p.m. She is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall, with brown hair and blue eyes. Police suspect that 40-year-old Gary Day from Arkansas is responsible for taking her. Day is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, with blond hair and green eyes.
Authorities believe that the two are traveling in a black 2014 Buick Lacrosse with a Pennsylvania license plate number KGW5186. However, police have warned that Day is known to use multiple license plates. The same vehicle has also been seen with an Arkansas plate, BBR20L.
The Amber Alert was first issued by Wisconsin authorities before Arkansas officials sent out their own warning. The alert states that Sophia is three months pregnant, and police suspect that Day is the father of her unborn child. Additionally, Sophia has a court order preventing her from having any contact with Day. He is already facing charges of child enticement and abduction, as stated in a criminal complaint obtained by ABC News.
According to reports, Sophia had initially connected with Day online in April 2024. Despite efforts from her parents to limit her internet access, she continued communicating with him. Surveillance footage from early Monday morning reportedly shows Day near Sophia’s home in Wisconsin before she went missing.
Court records reveal that this is not the first time Day has taken Sophia. Previously, he abducted her and brought her to live with him in Arkansas for several months before she returned home at an unspecified time. Concerned authorities are now working urgently to find her and bring her back safely.
