A community in New Sweden, Maine, came together on Saturday to hold a special vigil for a missing teenager, Stefanie Damron. Stefanie, just 14 years old, has been missing since September 23rd, and her disappearance has left everyone deeply worried.
The young girl was last seen walking out of her home on West Road and heading into the nearby woods. Since then, there’s been no trace of her, despite extensive efforts to find her.
On Saturday afternoon, neighbors, friends, and family gathered at New Sweden First Baptist Church for an event called “Light the Sky Purple for Stefanie.” It was a heartfelt way to show support and raise awareness about her case. People dressed in purple, Stefanie’s favorite color, and many brought purple ribbons to symbolize hope.
Attendees were also encouraged to write letters to Stefanie, messages filled with love and hope, with the aim of keeping her story alive in the community and beyond.
The FBI has now stepped in, offering a $15,000 reward for any information that could help bring Stefanie home. Investigators have been working tirelessly, conducting interviews and following up on leads not just in Maine but also in Canada and other parts of the country.
Despite their hard work, there’s still no breakthrough, which is why authorities are urging anyone with even the smallest bit of information to come forward. If you know anything about Stefanie’s disappearance or her possible whereabouts, you can reach out to the State Police at 532-5400. Every tip counts, and her loved ones are holding onto hope that she will be found safe.
This is a heartbreaking time for the community, but the outpouring of love and support shows how determined everyone is to bring Stefanie back home.
