Snow was falling all day in Southern Indiana, blanketing the area and making travel a real challenge for drivers. Despite the tricky conditions, some people still ventured out, but not without a few hiccups along the way.
“Everybody’s sliding,” said truck driver Demario Henderson, shaking his head. “It’s bad out here.”
For many, the roads were nothing short of a nightmare. Leah Bruner, who works at a local restaurant, said she even saw a car skid into a ditch. Others, like Nita Keen, a Florida resident making her way to Chicago, described the situation as downright dreadful.
“There are so many spinouts and jackknifed semis,” Nita explained. “You can’t even see the ramps or the lanes because of the snow. It’s been tough.”
The snowstorm painted the day in white, creating chaos and frustration for drivers. Demario, on his way to Indianapolis, shared how his journey had been completely thrown off track.
“We were crawling at 10 miles an hour for hours,” he said. “I ran out of driving time and had to stop here for the night. Back home in Georgia, we only get a couple of inches of snow. This is just crazy.”
The harsh conditions made Demario rethink his next steps. Safety was his top priority.
“I’m going to call the broker,” he said. “If it’s safe tomorrow, I’ll give it a try. But if not, I’m staying put until I feel comfortable driving again.”
For now, drivers like Demario and Nita are stuck waiting, hoping the roads clear up soon so they can safely continue their journeys. Meanwhile, the snow keeps falling, turning Southern Indiana into a winter wonderland that’s more trouble than charm for those behind the wheel.
