A tragic car accident in New Albany, Indiana, claimed the life of a young man early Sunday morning, January 5. The crash happened shortly after midnight in the 1800 block of Klerner Lane, and authorities were called to the scene around 1:40 a.m.
The driver, identified as 23-year-old Isaiah Lamkin from Charlestown, Indiana, was rushed to the University of Louisville Hospital. Sadly, he did not survive.
Indiana State Police have been investigating the accident and shared that Lamkin’s car veered off the left side of the road, hitting a mailbox and then crashing into a utility pole. Investigators confirmed there were no signs of alcohol or drug use involved, and weather conditions were not a factor. At this point, they are still trying to understand what caused the car to leave the road.
This heartbreaking incident has left family and friends mourning the loss of someone so young. Police continue to gather more information as they work to piece together what happened.
