It all started in Issaquah, a town near Seattle, where the boy reportedly took the car from his grandfather. He was heading to Grant County, on the other side of the state, because he had some kind of connection there, officials said. When the police in Issaquah realized where he might be going, they let Grant County deputies know to keep an eye out for him.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office started searching for the car, and just after 10 a.m., they spotted it parked on the side of the road. But things didn’t end there—when officers tried to stop him, the boy sped off, leading them on a short chase.

To bring things to a halt, the deputies used a maneuver where they nudged the car to make it spin and stop. Thankfully, no one got hurt, and the damage to the car was pretty minor.

By the time the boy was stopped, he had driven 161 miles, even crossing the Cascade Mountains! Now, he’s in custody at a juvenile detention center in Chelan County and could face charges for stealing the car and trying to outrun the police.

It’s safe to say this will be one road trip the boy won’t forget anytime soon!
