What Makes Vito Special

During the big announcement, Vito stood proudly by his handler, Michael Scott, gazing up as if he knew something exciting was happening. Judge George Milutinovich praised Vito’s “beautiful expression and movement” and even joked with Scott, asking if Vito understood what had just happened.

Michael laughed and said, “He’s very smug. I think he knows.”

Vito charmed his way to the top, beating out six other impressive finalists. These included Houston, a Clumber Spaniel; The Zit, an Ibizan Hound; Rupert, a Berger Picard; Monty, a Giant Schnauzer; JJ, a Lhasa Apso; and Verde, a Welsh Terrier who took home the Reserve Best in Show title, which is like being the runner-up.

Why Pugs Are So Loved

If you’ve ever met a pug, you’ll know why they’re adored. The American Kennel Club describes pugs as dogs that “live to love and be loved.” Historically, they were pampered pets of Chinese emperors. Today, they’re known for their playful personalities and sturdy little bodies, making them favorites in homes around the world.

A Thanksgiving Tradition

The National Dog Show is a Thanksgiving staple for millions of families. It’s been held every year since 1933 and has been on TV since 2002, with about 20 million people tuning in annually. Sponsored by Purina and hosted by the Kennel Club of Philadelphia, the event is always a big deal. This year, it also introduced a new breed, the Lancashire Heeler, officially recognized by the AKC in January.

Vito’s victory wasn’t just a win for him but for all pug lovers everywhere. His story is proof that big things can come in small, adorable packages!
