In Akron, Ohio, a 29-year-old man named Sher Bhujel has been sentenced to spend 7 to 10 1/2 years in prison after being found guilty of raping a child under the age of 15.
Once Bhujel completes his prison sentence, he will face strict legal obligations as a Tier III sex offender. This designation means he will need to register with the local sheriff’s office every 90 days for the rest of his life. Additionally, he will be under mandatory supervision for five years after his release.
According to a statement from the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office, Bhujel pleaded guilty to three counts of rape.
Summit County Prosecutor Kolkovich commended the bravery of the young survivor who came forward and shared their story. She also expressed gratitude toward the Akron Police Department and her team of assistant prosecutors for their efforts in securing justice. Kolkovich emphasized the seriousness of crimes against children, stating that there is no room for such acts in Summit County and that her office is dedicated to protecting the community’s children.
