A heartbreaking incident has left a family in mourning after a father of three was tragically shot and killed on his way home from work in Houston, Texas. The man, 37-year-old Robert Schorovsky, had just finished installing Christmas lights at the NASA Johnson Space Center when the unthinkable happened.
It was around 10:30 p.m. on December 2 when Houston police were called to a car crash along a busy interstate. When officers arrived, they found Robert in critical condition inside his truck. Authorities revealed he had been shot at least once. What makes this even more puzzling is that there were no signs of multiple gunshots—no bullet holes in the truck or shattered windows. Just one single shot.
“We’re all in shock. It’s been rough,” Robert’s wife, Brittany Ray, shared with local media. She described how surreal it was to lose her husband to such a senseless act of violence.
Paramedics rushed Robert to Ben Taub General Hospital, but sadly, he didn’t make it. He was pronounced dead that same evening. Now, his wife and their three children—ages 9, 11, and 14—are left grappling with the devastating loss of a man they describe as the heart of their family.
An obituary shared by the family painted a picture of who Robert was. He was a dedicated father and husband who lived for his loved ones. “Robbie loved spending time with his family and making lasting memories,” the tribute read. “If he wasn’t working, you might find him fishing at the neighborhood pond, clearing his mind.”
He had a knack for fixing anything, especially his beloved white Chevy truck. His family recalled moments of hiking, bike riding, and traveling together, memories they will always cherish. And despite not being a fan of roller coasters, Robert would ride them just to make Brittany happy. “He loved with all his heart and enjoyed helping those around him,” the obituary said.
As of now, the case remains a mystery. Police haven’t identified any suspects or witnesses. They’re asking anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be shared with the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. Crime Stoppers is also offering a $5,000 reward for tips that lead to an arrest.
For Brittany, their children, and everyone who loved Robert, answers can’t come soon enough. This unimaginable tragedy has shaken their world, but they’re determined to hold onto the beautiful memories he left behind.
