A shooting at the Park Plaza Mall in Little Rock, Arkansas, on Friday afternoon left two people injured, authorities said. Thankfully, both victims are expected to recover, and their injuries are not life-threatening.
The chaos began around 1:45 PM when an argument between two men took a dangerous turn. According to the Little Rock Police Department, one of the men was armed and fired during the dispute. While earlier reports mentioned three injuries, police later confirmed that only two people were hurt.
Mark Edwards, a spokesperson for the police department, described the incident as “isolated,” emphasizing that this wasn’t a random act. “It seems like two guys had a disagreement,” Edwards explained. “One of them had a gun, and things escalated.” No arrests have been made yet, but police are actively investigating.
Little Rock Police Chief Heath Helton commended officers for their quick response, saying they worked swiftly to secure the area and protect the public. “We’re grateful that the victims will recover,” he said, adding that the department is committed to finding the person responsible.
Mayor Frank Scott Jr. didn’t mince words in his response to the incident. In a statement shared on social media, he strongly condemned the violence, calling it “reckless and senseless.” He also extended his prayers to the victims and thanked first responders, mall staff, and security teams for acting quickly to ensure everyone’s safety.
