A car theft near Old Orchard Center in Skokie led to a dramatic chase on Thursday afternoon, ending with three people in custody while one suspect remains on the run.
The whole thing started around 3:30 p.m. when police got a call about a stolen blue 2019 Kia spotted in the 4900 block of Old Orchard Center. When officers arrived at the scene, four people jumped out of the car and took off running in different directions.
Police quickly managed to catch three of them. One of the suspects was carrying two guns, according to authorities. The fourth person, however, managed to escape.
As officers searched for the missing suspect, Niles North High School went into a soft lockdown for safety reasons. Despite the efforts, police were unable to locate the suspect.
The three people who were caught were taken to the Skokie Police Department for questioning as the investigation continues. Officers are still searching for the fourth suspect.
