Late Saturday night, Phoenix Police officers rushed to a stabbing incident that shook a quiet neighborhood near 7500 West Warner Street. It was just before 10:00 p.m. on January 25 when officers arrived at the scene, responding to a distress call about a violent altercation inside a house.
When they got there, they discovered three people suffering from stab wounds. Among them was 29-year-old Jake Carbonell, who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Tragically, despite the doctors’ efforts, Carbonell passed away shortly after. The other two victims, a man and a woman, were also taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but thankfully, their wounds weren’t life-threatening, and they’re expected to recover.
As officers combed the area, they quickly found and detained a man nearby. He was later identified as Hunter Strawbridge. Witnesses at the scene confirmed Strawbridge was the one responsible for stabbing all three victims before trying to flee.
Investigators pieced together the events leading up to the attack. They learned that Carbonell and Strawbridge had been at a family gathering earlier that evening. A heated argument broke out between the two, escalating into violence when Strawbridge stabbed Carbonell. In the chaos, the other two victims were also injured before Strawbridge ran from the scene.
Strawbridge has since been arrested and booked into jail. Meanwhile, the tight-knit community is left reeling from the violence and mourning the loss of Jake Carbonell. Police continue to investigate as they work to bring justice to the victims and their families.
