Share news:

A Florida attorney found himself in hot water after a buffet line squabble took a turn for the worse at a wedding reception. Mark Roher, a 52-year-old lawyer, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon following the incident, according to Palm Beach County Jail records.

The altercation took place on January 18 at the Boca Lago Country Club in Boca Raton during a wedding celebration. What started as a verbal disagreement escalated into physical violence, leaving wedding guests shocked.

According to authorities, the trouble began at the prime rib carving station when two young girls cut in line ahead of Roher. Frustrated, Roher reportedly confronted the father of one of the girls. Witnesses say the man tried to ignore Roher, but things quickly got out of hand.

According to a deputy’s report, Roher allegedly struck the father, described as a slimmer man, on the head with a dinner plate. Chaos erupted as other wedding guests tried to intervene. The man who was attacked told police he had turned away, trying to avoid further confrontation, but Roher hit him on the head with the plate, pushed him, and grabbed him by the collar.

A worker at the event also witnessed the incident and provided a similar account. The witness stated they saw Roher become upset over being cut in line, hit the man with the plate, and shove him. The plate reportedly shattered during the attack. The witness added that while others tried to separate the two men, Roher attempted to approach the victim again, and more plates were heard breaking.

When questioned by police, Roher initially invoked his Miranda rights. Later, during an interview, he admitted to being upset about the line-cutting and acknowledged pushing the other man but denied hitting him with a plate. Roher also told investigators the wedding reception was alcohol-free and claimed he sustained injuries during the scuffle, including being hit in the face, underarm, and shin.

Roher was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released on a $1,000 bond. The incident has left many shaking their heads over how a simple buffet line disagreement turned into a violent encounter at what should have been a joyous celebration.
