The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) reported that Angela Baker’s body was discovered by family members at her residence on East Franklin Street around 4:30 p.m. Authorities were immediately called, and local police requested the assistance of the GBI to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.

Later the same day, Corey Bryant, 36, who had been previously involved in a relationship with Baker, was arrested on charges related to an earlier altercation, which was initially deemed unrelated to the homicide. However, further investigation uncovered evidence linking Bryant directly to Baker’s murder.

Charges Filed Against Ex-Boyfriend

Bryant is now facing charges of malice murder, a serious offense under Georgia law that indicates the act was committed with intent and malice aforethought. Authorities have not disclosed specific details regarding the evidence that led to Bryant’s arrest or the nature of the earlier altercation.

Community Shocked by Tragedy

The tragic death of Angela Baker has sent shockwaves through the Toccoa community, described as tight-knit and peaceful by its residents. Friends and family expressed their grief and called for justice as they await further updates from law enforcement.

Investigation Ongoing

The GBI has confirmed that its investigation into the case is ongoing. “Once our investigation is complete, the case file will be turned over to the Mountain Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution,” the agency said in a statement.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about Baker’s death to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously via the GBI’s Tipline at 1-800-597-TIPS, through their online platform, or using the “See Something, Send Something” mobile app.
