In a shocking and tragic incident, a 25-year-old Miami man, Larry James Grant-Rogers, has been arrested after allegedly ambushing and assaulting a 66-year-old woman in her home. The attack took place Wednesday afternoon, with the victim being held at gunpoint and sexually assaulted. The situation was further complicated by the involvement of Grant-Rogers’ own sister, who helped authorities make the arrest.
According to the arrest report, the victim had been outside tending to her garden when she noticed that her front door was securely locked. After returning inside to take a shower, she was ambushed by Grant-Rogers, who reportedly appeared out of nowhere, wielding a black pistol. Holding the gun at various points in her face, he tried to sexually assault her, but she fought back, screaming for help and pleading that she was ill.
Grant-Rogers forcibly dragged the woman to a bedroom where the assault continued before he tied her hands and feet and moved her to the bathroom. At this point, he contacted his sister, although it remains unclear if she was aware of the assault. The sister, who was not named, quickly alerted the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, providing crucial information about her brother’s location.
Deputies responded swiftly and arrested Grant-Rogers, who is now facing multiple charges, including armed sexual battery, aggravated battery, and armed burglary. The victim, who has not been identified, was found and confirmed that she had been sexually assaulted at gunpoint. As of Friday, Grant-Rogers remains at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center awaiting further proceedings.
This incident has left the community in shock, and the victim’s bravery in resisting the assault has been praised by authorities. The involvement of Grant-Rogers’ sister, though unexpected, proved vital in bringing the assailant to justice. The case continues to unfold, with local law enforcement committed to ensuring justice for the victim.
