Authorities in Edgemoor, South Carolina, have announced one of the largest drug busts in the region’s history, with a significant seizure of illicit drugs and firearms. On January 31, the Chester County Sheriff’s Office confiscated 3.7 pounds of fentanyl, 87 grams of crack cocaine, and approximately 2 pounds of marijuana. Additionally, deputies seized 17 firearms, two vehicles, and over $91,000 in cash.
Chester County Sheriff Max Dorsey emphasized the gravity of the drug bust, highlighting that the seized fentanyl alone had the potential to kill more than 800,000 people. “These drugs are killing people throughout our country, and Chester County is no exception,” Sheriff Dorsey remarked. He reiterated his office’s commitment to using every available resource to eliminate drug traffickers and dealers from the county.
The investigation led to the arrest of Travaris and Lamonica Dixon, who face multiple charges, including trafficking fentanyl and cocaine, as well as possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The sheriff’s office has stated that the investigation is ongoing, and the Dixons could face additional charges as the case develops.
Sheriff Dorsey also addressed the broader impact of drug trafficking on the community, urging families with loved ones struggling with opioid addiction to seek help immediately. He underscored the dangers of delay, noting that addiction can have deadly consequences. “The lives of our citizens are too valuable to be wasted all because of selfish and money-hungry drug dealers wanting to prey on vulnerable people struggling with addiction,” Dorsey said.
This operation marks a significant step in the fight against drug trafficking in Chester County, with law enforcement officials vowing to continue their efforts to curb the flow of illegal substances in the area. The case remains under investigation, and authorities are working to prevent further drug-related harm to the community.
