Richfield Township police are asking for your help to identify a man and a woman connected to an arson investigation. The incident happened in a neighborhood on N. Vassar Road, where a house was set on fire.
Here’s what police say happened: On the morning of September 3, 2024, a man and a woman showed up at a house in the 7000 block of N. Vassar Road. The homeowner wasn’t there, but luckily, the surveillance cameras were rolling. The two were seen walking up to the house before running off with a bicycle from the back of a truck parked in the driveway.
But it didn’t stop there. A short time later, the man came back carrying what police describe as an incendiary device. Moments later, video footage showed him running from the house, and smoke began to rise.
The surveillance footage that survived the fire offers some important clues. The man had a mustache that extended down to his chin and was wearing a noticeable Reebok sweatshirt. The woman had dark-colored hair. Both of them appeared to have average or smaller builds.
They didn’t stick around for long. The pair left the scene in a dark-colored car, which investigators believe might be a Toyota Prius or a similar Kia model. The car stood out because it was missing the hubcaps on its passenger side.
