Shocking Arrest in Dearborn Heights After Disturbing School Threats and Discovery of Weapons

Share news:

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. – A chilling situation unfolded in Dearborn Heights when a 25-year-old man was arrested after posting violent threats against schools on social media. The alarming threats were directed at local educational institutions, and investigators are now revealing disturbing details about the suspect’s home.

Andrew Bays, a resident of Dearborn Heights, was taken into custody following a search of his property, which is located directly across the street from Pardee Elementary School and near O.W. Best Middle School. Authorities discovered a shocking array of weapons in his home, along with other items too graphic to disclose. Investigators are particularly concerned about the possibility that children could have been targeted.

Bays allegedly posted threats on his personal Facebook and Instagram pages, expressing violent intentions towards schools, even suggesting the use of firearms. His disturbing comments hinted at a dangerous ideology, with white supremacist undertones and bizarre sympathies for a cult that believes the government should assign women to men without partners.

Thankfully, the situation ended before any harm could come to the community. Police were quick to act on the online threats, executing a search warrant and arresting Bays. According to Dearborn Heights officer Paul Vanderplow, the suspect is cooperating with authorities. “He made some very bad choices. He said some very violent terroristic things that he now has to answer for,” Vanderplow stated.

Bays is facing charges of making a threat against a school and using a computer to facilitate those threats. He has been given a $500,000 cash bond, and further charges may follow as investigators continue to examine his electronics. Authorities have reassured the community that there are no indications of additional threats, particularly in relation to the nearby schools.

The arrest highlights a growing concern over online threats and the dangerous ideologies that can lead to violence. The investigation is ongoing as officials work to piece together the full scope of Bays’ intentions.
